We at Not in Our Honor stand with the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) and the many tribes, organizations, and individuals who unequivocally oppose any effort to revive racist mascots that demean Indigenous communities. Statements made that these name changes were due to cancel culture or that most of us want these names to return are false and attempt to diminish decades of effort by NCAI, tribes, organizations, and individuals. The made-up Hollywood Indian stereotype does not reflect who we are and mascots do not honor anyone.
